Fairmont Royal Pavilion History

This wonderful property was the first hotel to open on Barbados wonderful west coast. It made it's debut in the 1940's and was originally named The Miramar Hotel. Sir Edward Cunard of the famed Cunard shipping line spearheaded the construction to complement his private estate which is now The Fairmont Glitter Bay, Royal Pavilion's sister hotel. The property witnessed many transformations over the years. The most dramatic of which occurred in 1987 when the building was expanded and transformed into a full-service, year-round resort.
